How This Grant Works:

The peaChic Grant is a grant dedicated to women-owned and women-focused businesses and never requires repayment. The purpose of the peaChic Grant is to provide a funding source to women wanting to launch or expand their respective businesses.

How This Grant Works:

The Love A Local Business competition lets fans, including customers, vendors, employees, and the community, determine who deserves some love - in the form of small business grants.

Amount Awarded: $15,000 in seed money as well as business resources to further the development of original product ideas and startup businesses.

How This Grant Works:

HuggiesÆ will award grants for ideas and existing small businesses that are original and designed to help make life easier for parents so that they can better enjoy everyday moments with their little ones.

To qualify, you must be:

  1. Applicants are 21 years of age or older.
  2. Currently reside in the United States.
  3. Applicants with business partners are welcome to submit grant proposals as long as those business partners meet the above criteria as well.

Company: Leadership Grant

Grant Name: Leadership Grant

Amount Awarded: $1,000 to $100,000.

How This Grant Works:

A Leadership Grant is an award of financial assistance to a recipient in support of starting or growing a small business. Any individual that wishes to start or grow a small business in the United States may benefit from a Leadership Grant.

Almost 90% of applicants that submit a well-prepared business plan on time, demonstrate matching funds and meet eligibility requirements receive some form of cash award or in-kind funding.

To qualify, you must be:

  1. Ready to start or launch their new business within 6 months,
  2. Over the age of 18,
  3. American Citizen or legal immigrant.

Expires: Grant Proposals are reviewed upon receipt. Final decisions and fund allocations are completed quarterly each year. (January, April, July & October).

Company: The Tiffany & Co. Foundation

Grant Name: Tiffany & Co. Foundation: Responsible Mining

Amount Awarded:Typically 2 grants in the range of $25,000 - $100,000 are given every 6 months in the mining category

How This Grant Works:

The Tiffany & Co. Foundation provides grants twice yearly to US nonprofit organizations dedicated to arts education and preservation and to environmental conservation, specifically to projects addressing responsible mining.

To qualify, you must be:

  1. Must be a U.S.-based, tax-exempt organization with 501(c)(3) status.
  2. Must also be engaged in work that fits within the Foundation's program guidelines.

How This Grant Works:

This grant can be used for marketing, advertising, hiring employees, expanding facilities and other specific business needs.

To qualify, you must be:

  2. Demonstrate a business need that could be fulfilled by the grant,
  3. Provide a detailed explanation of how you will use the grant proceeds,
  4. Show how the grant will improve your business growth and success,

Company: IFA Educational Foundation and the PepsiCo Foundation

Grant Name: VetFran Business Grant Fund

Amount Awarded: Up to a maximum of $10,000

How This Grant Works:

The purpose of the fund is to assist veterans who have been awarded a franchise through the IFA VetFran program by providing financial grants for business development, education, training, and/or technical assistance.

To qualify, you must be:

  1. Candidates must have been awarded a franchise from a VetFran participating company.
  2. Honorable discharge from any branch of the U.S. military or Coast Guard.
  3. Candidates must have a signed franchise agreement and must have at least one unit in operation, or a letter from their franchisor confirming the opening store and schedule.
  4. Candidates must submit an application with a current resume, copy of military discharge certificate, name of franchisor, name and location of franchise business.
  5. 500 word essay describing the need for the grant and purpose for which funds will be used.
  6. Two letters of recommendation, including one from the franchisor.

How This Grant Works:

The Knight News Challenge is a media innovation contest that aims to advance the future of news by funding new ways to digitally inform communities. Company: Caleb Brown Venture Capital and Consulting, LLC Project

Grant Name: The Urban Excellence Community Grant

Amount Awarded: Up to $1,000 and 500 hours of complimentary business consulting from Caleb Brown for one (1) year.

How This Grant Works:

Caleb Brown's mission is to find, promote, and nurture young urban entrepreneurs with vision who understand that small business creation is one of the key components required to rebuild local blocks, neighborhoods, and communities by providing training and jobs to the next generation.

Caleb Brown provides companies with consulting services that is known to develop and enhance business models, growth strategies and financial models that boost the chances of success for a start-up or early stage company.

Applications should be submitted electronically to CBgrant@calebbrownonline.com.

Funding decisions will be made by the 5th of each month and awardees must agree to attend a presentation event where the check will be presented.

Awardees must agree to participate in a weekly, 2 hour session in a start-up business course with Caleb Brown for two (2) months.

To qualify, you must be:

  1. Applicants must be residents, or other invested members of the community that is proposed to be served by the company.
  2. Geography Served: Companies must serve an Urbanized Area defined by the Census Bureau as the following: A central place and adjacent territory that contain at least 50,000 people and an overall density of 1,000 per square mile.
  3. Start-up, for-profit businesses opened for less than three (3) years qualify for this opportunity; businesses in the planning stages are also welcomed to apply.
  4. Business owners must have intentions on hiring full-time, part-time, or intern staff within the funding year.

Company: City of Cincinnati Over-the-Rhine Chamber

Grant Name: Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce's Business First Grant Program

Amount Awarded: Rental subsidy up to four months rent for the first year of a three-year lease, a matching grant up to $20,000 for tenant improvements and $300 towards the business' exterior signage.

How This Grant Works:

To provide an environment for individuals, entrepreneurs, investors and businesses to thrive, thus strengthening the economy by expanding the number of successful, stable businesses.

To qualify, you must be:

  1. Be new to Over-the-Rhine (New businesses and businesses established in other locations are permitted. It is preferred that established businesses are currently located outside of the City of Cincinnati boundaries, but it is essential that the business must not have been located in Over-the-Rhine within the last 12 months),
  2. Occupy a storefront in the Main Street, Vine Street or Findlay Market business district,
  3. Sign a three-year lease,
  4. Agree to participate actively in the mentoring program and provide annual financial statements for the period of the lease,
  5. Agree to be open to the public at least 50 hours per week,
  6. Provide a thorough and well-organized business plan with a start-up budget and projected cash flow statements for the first three years of operation,
  7. Submit a complete application prior to opening, but no later than ninety (90) days of opening.

Grant Name: Maddie's Fund Starter Grants

Amount Awarded:

  • Community Shelter Data Grant ($10,000 - $40,000)

  • Business Plan for Saving Lives Grant ($10,000 - $40,000)

How This Grant Works:

Maddie's Fund wants to support local coalitions that combine the talents and resources of adoption guarantee organizations, animal control agencies, and traditional shelters to end the killing of healthy and treatable shelter dogs and cats in their communities.

To help build coalitions, Maddie's Fund has created a new series of grants. Starter Grants offer coalitions monetary assistance as they work on the various components of their community collaborations: collecting shelter statistics and reporting shelter data using terminology/definitions presented in the Asilomar Accords; developing Pet Evaluation Matrices; preparing yearly business plans; and formulating multi-year strategic plans.

ELIGIBILITY - Coalitions of animal groups operating in any county, region or state in the United States with a human population of 100,000 or greater are eligible to apply for these grants. Any animal group can apply on behalf of its coalition. Applicants for Maddie's Fund Starter Grants can be animal control agencies, traditional shelters, or adoption guarantee organizations.

Amount Awarded: Unlimited - Based on need and availability of funds.

How This Grant Works:

We believe it is important to walk alongside prospective grantees to accomplish goals of mutual interest and we are very interested in reviewing new and innovative ideas aimed at helping vulnerable children succeed. We intentionally place vulnerable children and their families at the center of everything we do and we want the organizations and policies we support to surround them with integrated programs that address the comprehensive needs of children, their families and communities.

In general, we do not provide funding for operational phases of established programs, capital requests (which includes the construction, purchase, renovation, and/or furnishing of facilities), equipment, conferences and workshops, films, television and/or radio programs, endowments, development campaigns, or research/studies unless they are an integral part of a larger program budget being considered for funding.

To be eligible for support, your organization or institution, as well as the purpose of the proposed project, must qualify under regulations of the United States Internal Revenue Service. As a result, we are not able to provide funding directly to individuals.

Organization: Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation

Grant Name: The Global Business Development Program

Amount Awarded: International Market Access Grant - $10,000
Export Development Grant - $3,000

How This Grant Works:

The Global Business Development Program aids the growth and expansion of Wisconsin exports by providing matching grant funding to Wisconsin businesses for export training, development, and promotion activities. The program consists of two grant components that are designed with flexibility to best meet the specific export development and international trade promotion needs of the Wisconsin company.

International Market Access Grant This grant can be used for reimbursement of specific expenses associated with executing new and/or expanded international market access strategy.

Export Development Grant This component is designed to help propel small-and medium-sized Wisconsin companies to become export-ready and to better assist them in developing the internal competence to enter and expand into global markets.

To Qualify You Must Be:

  1. Be an established business operating in Wisconsin that manufacturers, processes, assembles and/or distributes a product or performs a service with a potential to be exported. The company does not need to be headquartered in Wisconsin but must have export-related operations located within the state.
  2. No company size restrictions - Any company can apply.
  3. Provide assurance that at least 50% of the manufactured value of the product or of the performance value of the service is produced in Wisconsin.
  4. Submit a complete Global Business Development Program application to the WEDC and obtain approval prior to incurring expenses for qualifying activity(ies).
  5. Agree to complete program evaluations.
  6. For Export Development Grant funding, a company must meet the above requirements and be relatively new-to-export and/or demonstrate a specific export development need within the company (some exceptions may apply).

Grant Name: Small Business Express Creation Matching Grant Program

Amount Awarded: $10,000 - $100,000

How This Grant Works:

To provide grants for capital to small business in order to maintain job growth.

To Qualify You Must Be:

  1. Employ not more than 100 employees.
  2. Have operations in Connecticut.
  3. Have been registered to conduct business for not less than 12 months.
  4. Be in good standing with all state agencies.
  5. Be current regarding the payment of all state and local taxes.

Organization: Delaware Workforce Investment Board (DWIB)

Grant Name: Blue Collar Training Grant

Amount Awarded: Submit budget summary before the grant request can be considered for funding.

How This Grant Works:

The Blue Collar Training funds are available to help Delaware businesses provide customized training programs to upgrade and/or retrain their employees and provide financial assistance to full time employees.

To Qualify You Must Be:

  1. Must be a Delaware company in good standing.
  2. Selected participants (Min. 25%) must be Delaware residents.
  3. Participants must be Full-time, permanent employees and offered benefits.
  4. Training is for Entry level through Front-line supervisory positions.
  5. Business is required to match requested amount with monetary or in- kind Contributions.
  6. Allow 45 days for application processing prior to training start date.

Organization: Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority

Grant Name: Princess Anne Street and Lafayette Boulevard Overlay District FaÁade Improvement Grant/Loan Program

Amount Awarded:
Grants for approved improvements up to $3,000; or
Matching grants of up to a maximum of $5,000 per property; or
Low interest loans up to $10,000 for projects over $10,000.

How This Grant Works:

The Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority has developed a facade improvement grant and loan program to offer technical and financial assistance to qualified businesses or property owners seeking to renovate or restore building facades in the Princess Anne Street and Lafayette Boulevard Corridor Overlay Districts, both of which are primary gateways into the city's 40-block National Historic District.

To Qualify You Must Be:

  1. Applicants must be business owners or tenants operating retail businesses.
  2. Residential property owners with frontage on Princess Anne Street or Lafayette Boulevard in the overlay corridors.
  3. Properties must be up to date on all municipal taxes, fees, ordinances and codes prior to participation in the Program.
  4. Tenants/business owners should have at least a five-year commitment remaining on their lease(s).
  5. Applicants must comply with all state and local laws and regulations pertaining to licensing and permits.

Organization: CAT Connecticut Center For Advance Technology, Inc

Grant Name: Small Business Incubator Program

Amount Awarded: $30,000 - CCAT will compensate the technology company's supplier of the product or service 100% of the approved contract amount up to thirty-thousand dollars ($30,000) - SBIP funds will be limited to thirty-thousand dollars ($30,000 per technology company).

How This Grant Works:

The intent of the SBIP legislation is to provide grant money directly to start-up companies housed in incubator facilities for the purpose of easing the inherently high financial burden of growing a high technology based business in today's economic climate.

To Qualify You Must Be:

  1. A technology company.
  2. Must be located in a Connecticut Based Incubator Facility.

Organization: City of Durham's Office of Economic and Workforce Development

Grant Name: The Sign and FaÁade Grant Program

Amount Awarded: Shall not exceed $2,500 for the signage portion of a grant and $5,000 overall. In no case shall the incentive exceed 50 percent of total project cost.

How This Grant Works:

The objective of the program is to assist business owners and improve the pedestrian experience by enhancing the visibility and appearance of businesses through signage and faÁade improvements that are physically, historically and architecturally compatible with relevant design guidelines applicable within the Community Development Area (CDA) outside Downtown Durham, including targeted corridors and targeted areas within the Urban Growth Area (UGA).

To Qualify You Must Be:

  1. Proposed projects must be within the CDA outside the Downtown Development Tier, including targeted corridors and targeted areas within the UGA. To determine whether a project is within an eligible geographic location, use the mapping tool.
  2. The property owner must attest to non-delinquent property taxes for the property address where the sign will be installed (declare to be true that the property taxes have been paid to the current date).
  3. The property owner and/or tenant will be responsible for the maintenance of the signage for a period of five years from the project completion or until such time as the building is sold or the tenant changes.
  4. Depending on the type and size of sign to be installed and the location of your building, you may be required to obtain any or all of the following from the City of Durham: sign permit, electrical permit, and/or certificate of appropriateness (if needed).
  5. FaÁade improvements must be consistent with design guidelines, development review, streetscapes and enhancement of the pedestrian experience.
  6. A current copy of City of Durham Privilege License (Not required at time of application but will be required if awarded funding).
